We follow the principles of Fair Trade as laid out by the International Federation of Alternative Trade (IFAT).
These include:
Payment of a fair price
Capacity building
Gender equality
Safe and healthy working conditions
Better environmental practices
Accountability
For us this means:
We buy off organisations and cooperatives certified the International Federation of Alternative Trade (IFAT) or by the British Association for Fair Trade Shops (BAFTS). Anything not obtained through these channels is assessed using their criteria.
We have created solid, long term relationships with the producer groups we buy from. We don't try and force their price down, we pay promptly and we pay upfront if required.
We promote Fair Trade to individuals and other businesses.
